Alfonso Mercurio

Born in Naples and educated at the Sapienza University of Rome, Dr. Alfonso Mercurio developed his creative language in dialogue with the architectural grandeur and cultural depth of Rome. Across more than five decades, he has cultivated a practice distinguished by proportion, material refinement, and a profound sensitivity to spatial harmony.

While internationally recognised for his leadership in architecture, including serving as Corporate Worldwide Architect for Texas Instruments and being selected to work on the Borsa Italiana—the Italian stock exchange’s—redevelopment of its Milan-based headquarters, Alfonso’s vision has always extended beyond the built environment. His philosophy centres on composition, balance, and the emotional resonance of form, allowing his work to move fluidly between architecture and art.

In his artistic practice, Alfonso has created three-dimensional landscape paintings that challenge the boundary between surface and space. These works translate his architectural sensibility into layered compositions, where texture, depth, and light interact to create immersive visual experiences. Each piece reflects a lifelong pursuit of clarity and elegance, transcending function to become an enduring expression of place and perception.
