Villa Vento represents a fully realised expression of Metakaos’s curatorial philosophy: an interior conceived not as decoration, but as a spatial continuation of architecture. Inspired by the powerful lines of a vessel cutting through water, the home’s maritime narrative extends seamlessly from exterior to interior.
Metakaos’s curation encompassed the entire interior environment. Timber flooring was selected to echo the teak decks of classic sailing yachts, reinforcing the sensation of inhabiting a refined vessel rather than a conventional residence. In contrast, expanses of marble flooring were introduced in key zones, such as the dining room, to elevate the material palette, lending moments of cool refinement against the warmth of wood. This dialogue between textures mirrors the interplay of hull and horizon; of solidity and openness held in balance.
The chromatic composition is deliberately restrained: hues of brown, tan, and pearl white establish a calm, cohesive backdrop, allowing the architectural vaults and wraparound glazing to remain dominant. Against this composed base, deep reds—expressed through curtains, upholstered chairs, carpets, and sofas—introduce controlled intensity. These accents act as visual counterpoints, recalling the richness of a captain’s lounge while adding depth and contrast to the interior landscape.
Travertine detailing integrates cabinetry and wall panels with quiet precision, dissolving boundaries between furniture and architecture. Surfaces appear continuous, with volumes reading as carved rather than assembled. The result is a holistic interior where each element—flooring, furnishings, art, and architectural detail—participates in a unified narrative.
In Villa Vento, curation becomes choreography. Circulation, materiality, colour, and form are orchestrated to heighten the experience of arrival and reveal, echoing the symbolism of crossing from land to water. The outcome is not simply a designed interior, but an immersive environment: a residence that embodies motion, craftsmanship, and the enduring romance of the sea, interpreted through a distinctly contemporary lens.
