The Wind

More details about The Wind

Wind (2015) stands in a pond in the entry lobby of the Villa Vento in Sentosa and is the first thing visitors see when they enter the house. Hence, it is a kind of rite of passage into the house, signaling how the house responds to feng-shui (wind-water). The sculpture was modeled using a computer programme and takes its proportions from the golden ratio (or golden mean) which has fascinated mathematicians, artists and architects over time. While the piece is called Wind and suggests the whirling motion of wind (inspired by Futurist art), it also communicates the impression of ripples in water driven by the wind and so embodies the notion of ” feng-shui.

This piece stands in a pond in the entry vestibule of the villa, Vento, in Sentosa. Influenced by the dynamic imagery of Futurism, the piece also responds to the importance of feng sui (wind-water) to the client. Modelled on a computer, the sculpture represents a sequence of ripples in a golden ratio.
